Description
EcoContact™ 6 – the next standard enhanced by German technology.
Maximum fuel efficiency
Enhanced mileage due to new Green Chili™ 2.0 compound
Optimised grip and handling experience
The new Green Chili™ generation features the latest and most advanced compound technology in the Eco range.
The EcoContact™ 6 strikes an optimal balance between tyre size and components distribution. The high-tech compound provides robust connections between the silica and the rubber. This allows an optimal adaptation to varying road conditions, which ultimately improves the tyre’s rolling resistance and fuel consumption.
The advanced Green Chili™ 2.0 compound adapts to the road surface, which leads to a reduction in the rubber loss throughout its life cycle. As a result, mileage is increased.
The EcoContact™ 6 offers a tailor-made pattern, resulting in the best balance between dry and wet performance. It further increases the safety in handling situations, such as lane changes. And thanks to its innovative asymmetric rib and sipe geometry, the tyre always keeps the contact with the road.
Manufacturer information
EU Tyre Label
As of 01/11/2021, the European Tyre Labelling Regulation EU/1222/2009, (EU tyre label) applies. This regulation applies for all newly manufactured tyres as of CW27/2021.
The EU tyre label provides information about the criteria for fuel efficiency, wet grip and external rolling noise and is binding for all car, LGV and HGV tyres (classes C1, c2 and C3) within EU Member States.
The aim of the EU tyre label is to increase safety, environmental protection and efficiency of road traffic by promoting fuel-saving, safe and quiet tyres.
Alongside the EU tyre label, you should continue to consider the relevant tyre tests as an important factor in your decision to purchase, as the new EU tyre label tests only three important criteria. in this way, for example, the driving characteristic of summer tyres on a dry road is assessed just as little as the snow grip of winter tyres
Test results
Summary:
The Continental EcoContact 6 performs outstandingly well in fuel consumption and also secures a very good rating in wear. While it can still secure a good rating on dry roads, it cannot go beyond a satisfactory rating in the wet due to its weaknesses in aquaplaning behaviour. All in all, the tyre's properties make it recommendable.
Strengths:
top mark regarding fuel consumption, low wear
Weaknesses:
relatively weak regarding aquaplaning on wet road
