The traditional family business Borbet was founded in 1962 by Peter Wilhelm Borbet and is one of the leading manufacturers of alloy wheels worldwide. In addition to six locations in Germany, which guarantee quality products Made-In-Germany, Borbet has one location each in Austria and South Africa. The company conceives, designs and casts alloy wheels with very high quality standards. All work steps from market research, design and construction to the finished painted wheel are carried out in-house. Over decades, Borbet has achieved a globally recognised status through state-of-the-art manufacturing processes, patented and innovative production technologies and an uncompromising quality assurance system, and has thus developed into a competent partner for car manufacturers and specialist dealers. The values of innovation, quality and flexibility, which have accompanied the family business since its foundation, still define the Borbet brand today.
Roots and history of the family business
The roots of the company were already established a few years before Peter Wilhelm Borbet founded the current company headquarters in Hallenberg-Hesborn/Hochsauerland in 1962. To be precise, in 1881 Gustav Borbet founded the Borbet company as a brass foundry in Altena (Westphalia), which was expanded about 50 years later to include the production of aluminium sand castings. While the family business initially produced various castings at the new location from 1962 onwards, this was followed by the start of production of alloy wheels in 1977. Since then, the Borbet Group has expanded continuously and has been divided over the years into the various companies BORBET GmbH, BORBET Austria GmbH, BORBET Sachsen GmbH, BORBET Solingen GmbH, BORBET SA (PTY) Ltd, BORBET Thüringen GmbH and BORBET Vertriebs GmbH.
Product range
Borbet's product range includes around 2,000 different alloy wheel variants, which can be described as ranging from extravagant to sporty and dynamic to classic and noble. The company itself divides its wheels into four categories: Borbet Classic, Borbet Commercial Wheels, Borbet Premium and Borbet Sports.
For all those who are more into classic designs, Borbet has the Borbet Classic category in its assortment. These include models such as Borbet CC, Borbet F, Borbet V or Borbet W.
The Borbet Commercial Wheels category particularly appeals to people who are looking for a rim with high load capacity for their SUV. An example of a model that falls into this category is C2C design. This design was created especially for the world record challenge "Cape to Cape" and accompanied and supported Rainer Zietlow during his journey in all adversities. The rim is therefore world record-tested and robust, resilient and weather-resistant. The CWD design also falls under the Borbet Commercial Wheels models. The straight-lined design and high-quality workmanship make the classic 5-spoke wheel a reliable companion even under heavy loads.
The Borbet Premium category includes slightly higher-quality models that stand out from the crowd, which also attract attention with trendy colours such as bronze or candy red.
For people who are looking for rims for performance, for tuning or for drifting, they will surely find what they are looking for in the Borbet Sports category. Sporty designs such as the LX or FF1 models, or models designed especially for the drift sport such as DB8GT are part of the assortment in this category. But also a mix of classic and sporty designs can be found among the models in the Borbet Sports category. An example of this is the Model B. Here, retro meets the future.
