Motor oil with viscosity 15W-50
Engine oil with a viscosity of 15W-50 is a robust lubricant that has been specially developed for vehicles and engines that are operated under higher loads and temperatures. The viscosity of an engine oil indicates how fluid or thick the oil is at different temperatures. The first number, ‘15W’, indicates how the oil flows at cold temperatures, where ‘W’ stands for winter. A value of 15W means that the oil is slightly thicker in the cold than oils with a lower W number, making it ideal for moderate climates where extreme cold is rare. It still offers sufficient protection when starting the engine.
The second number, ‘50’, refers to the viscosity of the oil at operating temperature. A higher value such as 50 indicates that the oil remains thicker at high temperatures, which is particularly important to protect the engine from wear under extreme conditions such as high loads, hot temperatures or in motorsport.
15W-50 engine oil is often used in high-performance engines, older vehicles, motorbikes and in vehicles that operate under tougher conditions, such as high outside temperatures or intensive use. Manufacturers such as BMW, Porsche and Harley-Davidson often recommend 15W-50 for certain models as it offers an excellent balance between protection and performance. This oil is ideal for riders who want to ensure maximum durability and protection of their engine in demanding environments.
